New Mercury big block available

More grunt and fewer emissions

The next generation big block marine engine from Mercury MerCruiser is now available -- the MerCruiser 8.2 litre.

Drawing on the expertise of the Mercury Racing specialists, Mercury MerCruiser has created a motor which produces more power, has better mid-range acceleration, lower emissions and superior fuel efficiency.

The naturally aspirated engine has high performance aluminium cylinder heads to give the extra punch.

The engine is available in two models, the 8.2 Mag that produces 380hp and the 8.2 Mag HO that delivers 430 hp. Both are available in sterndrive and inboard configuration.

The engines, which replace Mercury's MerCruiser popular 496, run on standard unleaded petrol and are catalyst-equipped. The new 8.2 has low level CO2 emissions, comparable to a diesel engine, and has low oil consumption.

After feedback and input from boat builders and dealers, access to the engine's service points and connections has been improved to simplify installation and maintenance.
