Maritimo staged the world debut of its new luxury S59 Sedan cruiser at the 2017 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 25-28.
The first of the S59s is going
to remain located on the Gold Coast. Maritimo has now started
construction of hull number two for the 50th Sydney International Boat
Show in August. The base price is $2.05 million.
A sister ship to the M59 with flying bridge, which was also having its Australian launch at the same show, the S59 is a single-level cruising boat with three cabins and two bathrooms within an especially beamy hull.
Maritimo says the sedan iterations of its motor yachts fill a niche where boaties prefer the functionality and social benefits of single-level skippering or, perhaps, have low-slung bridges to navigate to reach their home berth.
From our experience, this style of cruiser is also popular with weekend boaters who like to entertain and raft-up without having to deal with added bulk and windage of a flying bridge.
A BIG-CITY SEDAN
The S59 is pitched as ideally suited to places like the Gold Coast and Mandurah, where many residential areas are separated from the bays and open ocean by low bridges.
Greg Haines, Maritimo’s sales and marketing man, said the S59 should also have broad appeal in places like The Great Loop, encompassing waterways in the eastern portion of the USA and parts of Canada, which are both natural and manmade and involve the use of locks and navigating under bridges.
"We are confident this single-level luxury cruiser will have broad appeal and it certainly complements our flybridge models," he said.
MOTOR YACHT ATTRIBUTES
The S59 features a full-beam master cabin, which is a hallmark of the Maritimo range, a VIP cabin with walk-around double bed, and a third single-bed cabin that coverts to a double.
The wide-beam hull has a broad waterfront with a large opening lazarette similar to what’s found on the company's larger M64 cruising motor yacht and the smallest yacht the M51.
The draft of 1.22m is quite shallow, while the fuel capacity of 4400lt is big for a 500nm+ cruising range. Water capacity is 900lt, so you mightn't need a desal. The boat can sleep six people comfortably.
Standard engines are twin Volvo D11-725hp power plants, although all the M59 owners have upgraded to the D13 800hp engines for 28-30 knots. The Cummins Onan 17.5kw generator is intended to run the board.
Maritimo says its shaft-drive technology reduces fuel consumption and gives the peace of mind of lower maintenance costs and increased longevity of ownership.
