New marina for Melbourne

Macquarie Leisure Trust Group will build a $2 million marina in Melbourne's Docklands precinct, the first phase of which is due for completion by the end of the year.

Macquarie Leisure announced it would develop a 178-berth marina at Victoria Harbour, at the waterfront end of Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD, with Lend Lease.

Macquarie Leisure's d'Albora Marinas business will spend $2 million constructing the first 72 berths of the marina, subject to final approval by VicUrban.

Final completion of the Docklands marina project is due by the end of this year.

Construction of the first phase of the Victoria Harbour facility, which will accommodate boats between 10m and 35m, is expected to begin before the end of June.

Maurice Cococcia, Lend Lease's project director for Victoria Harbour, said the development represented an exciting phase of growth for the city, opening up new leisure opportunities along the city's waterways.
