d’Albora Marinas has appointed its second chief executive in less than a year as the marina and leisure site operator kicks off the second stage of its business transition.
Wayne Taranto will replace Suzanne Davies at the head of the organisation, bringing experience in high-end hospitality and entertainment management in the wake of the group’s takeover of the Horizon Shores, Port of Airlie and Martha Cove marinas.

When he takes over in August, Taranto will be tasked with taking “Australia’s largest marina operator to the next level of service offering and continue the drive towards realising the group’s ambition of providing a distinctive and exceptional customer experience”.
Under Davies’ guidance, the Balmain-owned d’Albora Marinas opened several restaurants and bars at its marinas, added three boatyards, added dealership and brokerage businesses, and invested in its marina management system as part of a $50 million makeover of the group.
“These achievements provide Taranto [with] a solid foundation from which he can realise the further potential from the current offer and develop new exciting services for a broad spectrum of patrons,” Balmain chief executive Andrew Griffin said.
Once completed, the expansion project will provide d’Albora with more than 2000 wet and 1000-plus dry berths spread across 10 shipyards.
d’Albora owns marinas at Akuna Bay (NSW), Cabarita Point (NSW), Nelson Bay (NSW), Pier 35 (Victoria), Rushcutters Bay (NSW), The Spit (NSW) and Victoria Harbour (Victoria). It also recently acquired marinas at Horizon Shores (Queensland), Port of Airlie (Queensland) and Martha Cove (Victoria).
