Jeanneau has launched the first of its all-new flagship Sun Odyssey 64s. The new yacht is the largest and certainly most luxurious ever built by the French manufacturer.
Amazingly for boat of this size and calibre, we understand that Jeanneau had 11 orders for the boat before the first one was built and there are substantially more now.
Designed by Phillippe Briand with the interior by superyacht interior designer Andrew Winch, the new boat will certainly turn a few heads around the word.
The 64 is designed to be a semi-custom boat with a flexible interior that can allow the owner’s suite to be positioned either forward or aft, and the layout to have three, four, five or even six cabins – with or without crew quarters.
Other features available include a workshop, office and/or laundry. We’re told there are literally thousands of options when it comes to finishes and upholstery.
Up top, the huge cockpit features a barbecue and can have a refrigerator and even a sink with hot and cold water – so there’s no need to go below for food or beverages.
The running rigging leads back to just forward of the helm stations enabling this big sloop to be handled by a crew of just one or two. All the running rigging is encapsulated leaving the decks clear and uncluttered.
With 825 litres of fuel feeding the big 180hp engine and 1000 litres of water, coastal or even trans-ocean cruising should be easy, and certainly comfortable. Pricing is said to be starting around $1.65m.
