New generation Garmin sonar plotters

Four new echoMAP sonar chartplotter units ready to plug and play straight out of the box

Aimed squarely at freshwater, estuary and inshore anglers, Garmin says its next-generation echoMAP dv/sv series combines ClearVü sonar technology, detailed cartography and the most accurate GPS in its class.

Comprising four models – echoMAP 45dv, echoMAP 55dv, echoMAP 75sv and echoMAP 95sv – the company says the new sonar/chartplotter units feature bright, full-colour displays and an intuitive, keyed interface which makes them very simple to use.

All four models feature advanced HD-ID sonar and DownVü scanning sonar to provide incredible underwater definition in shallow and deep water.

Scanning the water column for bottom structure such as reef and drop-offs, as well as identifying thermoclines, baitfish and target fish, DownVü delivers a near photographic view of what’s below the boat, as well as offering excellent target separation in both freshwater and saltwater. DownVü’s finer, concentrated sonar signal not only allows users to see structure more clearly, it helps anglers recognise variations in weed growth and bottom composition/hardness, we're told.

The two larger models also have built-in SideVü scanning sonar, which scans the water up to 150m (500ft) either side of the boat. Ideal for anglers casting lures in creeks and rivers, as well as those trolling the headlands or searching for baitballs offshore, SideVü adds yet another dimension to
finding fish.

Pre-loaded with BlueChart g2 Australia and New Zealand coastal charts, all echoMAP dv/sv units incorporate a high-sensitivity 5Hz GPS antenna, which updates location and heading five times per second to provide accurate vessel position at all times.

A single microSD card slot provides expandable memory for additional map purchases such as BlueChart g2 Vision. This state-of-the-art charting system delivers exclusive Garmin Auto Guidance functionality, which directs you right to where you want to go. Simply enter a destination and the
echoMAP dv/sv unit instantly creates an on-screen path based on your boat’s location that you can follow to avoid shallow water and other charted obstructions.

Garmin says that all echoMAP dv/sv combo units are ready to install straight out of the box with the included all-in-one transducer, and come with a quick-release tilt/swivel mount for easy head unit removal/storage.

All four units also support 50/200kHz and 77/200kHz Minn Kota and MotorGuide trolling motor transducers.

RRP starts from $449 for the echoMAP 45dv and rounds out at $1699 for the echoMAP 95sv.
