New Ferretti Yachts 780 with MAN V12 engines

The Italian boatbuilder launches its latest masterpiece with MAN engines for up to 31 knots

After flagging its release at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the new Ferretti 780 is ready to enter production at the Cattolica shipyard for an expected debut in the summer of 2017.

The result of the collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee, the Ferretti Group Engineering Department and Studio Zuccon International Project, the new 780 is said to be a fantastic flybridge cruiser that will bridge the gap between sub-70 footer flybridge yachts and superyachts.

As part of the brand and model evolution, the new 780 is said to build on the proven attributes and features found on the 450, 550, 700 and 850, while adding considerable innovation to the foundation.

This styling is aerodynamic, brought to life by clean shapes and sleek lines, and the resized height of the hull’s topsides and hull windows will create an overall sporty yacht line in keeping with Ferretti Yachts 450 and 550.

The superstructure has elements of flybridge boats over 80ft. Together, the 780 will be at once a big flybridge motoryacht and a manageable cruiser delivered for the evolving global luxury-yacht market.

OUTDOOR LIVING
Ferretti says an important innovation is the aft beach club with a unique door-operating system, using a ‘tailgate’ that folds together or can be separated into two sections with large sun pads.

Once it is fully opened, the aft space is transformed into a remarkable relaxing area close to the water, which can be enriched by custom elements, Ferretti says.

In the cockpit, a retractable walkway leads to the bridge and saloon, creating one interconnected space where exterior and interior can be experienced independently or as one flowing open space.

The foredeck contains a private lounge of considerable size, comparable to that found on a maxi yacht, and has a pair of sofas, a table that can be converted into a dinette, and a vast central sun deck.

The large flybridge can be fitted with freestanding furniture, configured around the forward command station and large aft-facing sofa.

The shipyard offers the installation of a targa arch for satellite systems, which can be integrated by a modular hard top with a centre awning or glass protection.

SALOON ENTERTAINER
Beyond the glass tri doors you enter the main saloon and deck, all on the one level and consisting of a large living room with a C-shaped sofa, coffee tables and armchairs, dining area with large table that can be set for up to eight guests.

As with larger yachts, the prow is partitioned and contains the galley on the starboard side but, upon request, the aft bulkhead may be removed, thereby creating a unique environment with an additional living room to give the yacht an even more enveloping atmosphere.

Steps lead to the sleeping quarters on the port side, while the raised pilothouse is a technical command centre with integrated instruments and a sofa.

FOUR-CABIN ACCOMMODATION
A companionway leads to the four guest cabins, each with en-suite bathroom.

The full-beam master suite will be bathed in natural light through the large double glazing surfaces with integrated porthole. The double cabin has separate shower and en suite, vanity and study area, with a sofa and lounge chair completing the picture.

Before reaching the forward VIP cabin, a lobby leads to the two guest cabins, one with a double bed on the starboard side, and the other with twin berths.

ITALIAN STYLING
The use of light and geometric shapes on the ceiling of the main salon area and cabins will be a feature of the new Ferretti Yachts 850, along with furniture previously found only in contemporary penthouses, the boatbuilder enthuses.

In keeping with the Ferretti Yachts fleet, the new 78-footer will be available in the Tai He Ban version for the Asia Pacific market with dedicated entertainment, business and informal areas.

Finally, the crew area is well aft and can be accessed from the cockpit. Ferretti says it will be among the most spacious in this market segment, with a captain’s cabin and a cabin for crew with two bunk beds, both with separate bathrooms.

On request, a storage area can be added to starboard. Through the watertight door is the engine room, which is also accessible from a cockpit hatch.

MAN ENGINES

The Ferretti Yachts 780 will be powered by twin 1400hp V12 MAN engines, allowing the yacht to reach 24 knots at cruising speed and touch 28 knots at top speed (preliminary data).

Optional MAN twin engines with 1550hp will give a cruising speed of 26 knots and a top speed of 31 knots, Ferretti anticipates.

Owners can install stabilisers and other solutions to meet their exacting requirements, with the 780 suitable for long-range navigation and luxury cruising, entertaining and harbour boating, and most things in between.
