New Explorer range from Quintrex

Iconic alloy boat manufacturer updates a fishing favourite

Quintrex’s iconic Explorer range has a new look after receiving the biggest design upgrade since its release in the 1990s.

For the past two decades, Quintrex’s Explorer range has offered boaters an affordable and reliable tinnie that’s versatile enough to fish bays and creeks, use as a tender or even a car topper for the keen camper.

The new range, called the Explorer Fighter Series, comprises the much loved 390F Explorer as well as the 420F Explorer, The more upmarket Trophy range comprises the 400F Explorer Trophy, the 420F Explorer Trophy, and the range-topping 440F Explorer Trophy.

While the standard Explorers get bench seats front and rear, the Explorer Trophys get casting platforms, pedestal seats with five seating positions, carpet, rod holders, storage and more.

The main design change to the Explorer range is the redesign of the bow which now sports a ‘pickle-fork’ design which increases volume forward and adds to the dry ride as well as stability.

The new design features wider chines and a sharper entry which creates a softer riding hull. The change to the bow has increased the deadrise in the 390 and 420 Explorer Trophies by up to seven degrees and the front casting platform and underfloor storage has increased by more than 10 per cent.

The new range is said to be tougher with stronger side sheets and a sleek new look thanks to a new pressing design which increases strength by up to 50 per cent compared to the previous model.

At the launch of the new Explorers, Quintrex National Account Manager Cameron Wood said the 390 Explorer had always been a best-selling model for the brand, but the new design was a ‘game-changer’ and would grab the interest of everyone from loyal Explorer fans to first-time boat owners.

"There is no doubt that our customers will love the new 390 Explorer with the extra stability and up to 10 per cent more space in the cockpit," he said.

"These tinnies are even more practical and versatile than before."

Asked what the reason was for the change, Wood said that the boat virtually hadn’t changed since it was first launched so the research and development boys went to work to make it better.

"A lot of time went in to the updating the range," he said. "Being such a popular model we wanted to make sure we came back with something our customers would love even more than before.

"The new boat has more usable space for fishing, more storage and is more stable than before, so we think we have done a good job."

Quintrex is offering a huge optional extras list so you can customise your Explorer to suit your needs and the type of fishing and boating you do.
