As reported previously in this news story about the new 2017 Evinrude E-TEC line-up, BRP has just released its next generation of Evinrude E-TEC G2 direct-injection two stroke outboards with horsepower ranging from 150 to 200.
The official BRP press release about the new 2017 Envinrude line-up, which forms this basis of this follow-up article, has some additional information.
Of course, the new E-TEC G2 150, 150 H.O., 175 and 200hp models build on the success of the 200 High Output (H.O.) to 300 horsepower Evinrude E-TEC G2 models launched two years ago.
The introduction of the new mid-range models will bring a new era of outboard engines to more boaters and deliver the advantages of the E-TEC G2 technology down the line, BRP says. We will add that these new 150-200hp outboards sizes are perfectly matched to many popular Aussie 5-6 metre trailerboats.
BRP says its new E-TEC G2 outboard engines combine thrilling performance with the most intelligent design and the cleanest outboard engine combustion technology available today. From our experience, these new E-TEC G2s do offer thrilling acceleration.
The engine maker also claims the new Evinrude E-TEC G2 models deliver up to 30 per cent more torque, up to 15 per cent better fuel efficiency, and up to 75 per cent fewer total regulated emissions compared to leading four-stroke outboard engines (its own testing).
As with the first wave of new E-TEC G2 models, the new 150-200h H.O. Evinrudes feature distinctive, customisable looks that allows consumers to perfectly match their boat. The two new colour combos for 2017 are a camo called Mossy Oak and a cool Ice Blue, however, it is our understanding these two latter colours won't be available in Australia.
"Our Evinrude E-TEC G2 technology is now the benchmark for outboard engines," said Alain Villemure, vice-president and general manager of BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems division.
"By expanding this award-winning product line to lower horsepower models, now even more consumers can benefit from the industry-leading performance of Evinrude E-TEC G2. From bass to pontoon, centre console to aluminum fishing, freshwater to saltwater, the revolution is here."
Available with integrated Dynamic Power Steering and i-Trim, which is Evinrude’s auto trim system, the new G2 models have been designed to deliver confident handling and optimal performance at any speed or in any sea conditions.
Incorporating steering mechanisms into the mid-section of the engines also simplifies rigging for a cleaner transom. A 20-inch TRAC+ midsection on the 150hp models with i-Trim is also available for boaters that want a lighter package without integrated power steering.
The G2 outboards also have 2017 Evinrude E-Link,
which lets you monitor and control your Evinrude's functionality
remotely on your smartphone and device via a new E-Link app and gateway.
With no required break-in period and featuring standard push-button automatic winterisation (important in the US), the E-TEC G2 product line is said to be one of the easiest engines to own and is covered by an unparalleled warranty, BRP says, with five-years including corrosion with no dealer-scheduled maintenance for five years or 500 hours.
However, the above is the American warranty and it no longer applies in Australia. Importers Telwater are offering a 3 + 2 year warranty providing owners/operators meet the warranty requirements, which demands that an authorised Evinrude technician must adhere to:
- Maintenance Guidelines
- Genuine Evinrude oils and parts must be used.
- Customers must retain all maintenance records/invoices.
The Evinrude servicing agent must also log the maintenance on-line with Telwater.
Meantime, in addition to the new G2 engine line up, Evinrude also expanded the 2017 product year line by introducing two 60 H.O. models available in 20-inch and 25-inch configurations.
These models offer claim to offer consumers best-in-class performance in the 60 horsepower range and are said to be a perfect fit for most applications where additional performance is desired, including aluminum fishing, multi-species, pontoon, bay and flats boats. The Evinrude E-TEC outboards and new 60 H.O. models feature three years or 300 hours with no dealer-scheduled maintenance.
BRP's Evinrude engine line-up goes from 3.5 to 300hp and offers a value proposition across a full range of applications. More at
