New Chris-Craft Catalina 30 centre console has a 'pilothouse'

A new deep-vee centre console with all-weather helm comfort and a cool concealed cabin

Chris-Craft has released a new and rather hot-looking centre console dubbed the Catalina 30 Pilothouse that's rated for twin outboards up to 350hp.

The Catalina 30, which is part of the brand's centre console family including the 26, 29 and 34, enhances the line-up with a beautifully styled 'pilothouse' combining greater weather protection around the helm with elegant styling.

In the opening photo above you can see the big flared bow up front that will surely add to the dry ride of this centre console.

One of the big achievements of this new design is that the 'pilothouse' eliminates the need for multiple supports and, thus, provides unobstructed movement on deck and great vision at the helm.

This point should pique the interest of anglers who, on previous models, would have to hand the rod around the hardtop supports. That said, these are stylish day-cruising centre consoles and lifestyle boats more than blood-and-guts machines.

The famous US boat builder says it's proud of its new Catalina 30 Pilothouse and the fact it captures the quintessential Chris-Craft quality and comfort.

CONCEALED CABIN AND COOL DECKS
The new model has something else up its sleeve — a unique cabin down below hiding a berth and a head compartment. The only other Catalina with accommodation is the flagship 34, although the 29 has a decent head with sink.

The cabin on the new 30-footer is said to be spacious enough to create a comfortable refuge. There's a forward facing port window that allows light and forward visibility once inside.

Back on deck, the bow design is highlighted by a comfortably sized sun lounger, while the aft cockpit features a dive door and U-shaped convertible seating.

At the helm, the Catalina 30's dash provides convenient access to electronics and plenty of space for dual 16in Glass Cockpit screens.

The Catalina 30 is available with either Yamaha or Mercury outboard power ranging up to twin 350hp.

The Catalina 30, the newest centre console in the Chris-Craft centre console range, arrives on the scene during what is a hot market for centre console and open-bow boats.

Also on display at the 2017 Miami International Boat Show were a 2017 Catalina 26 with a newly designed helm and seating area; a 2017 Calypso 30 with an exclusive new Hard Top; and the Launch 36 finished with the sophisticated new Euro Top.
