At Boston Whaler’s recent 60th Anniversary celebrations in Sarasota, Florida, the big Brunswick brand released the new and improved Montauk 150 and 170.
Fittingly, these centre-console skiff-like boats team the brand’s classic heritage with the latest power, electronics and customer-driven design enhancements.
Jeff Vaughn, Whaler vice president of sales, marketing and customer service, says the Montauk has always been about effortless utility and purposeful design.
"We worked to maintain that clean simplicity and ultimate reliability, while also leveraging customer feedback to implement strategic upgrades.
"The new 150 and 170 combine everything our customers love about the Montauk with improvements in versatility and design that bring them squarely into the future," he said.
FISHING, FAMILY AND TENDER ROLES
Rugged "hose-and-go" utility and effortless operation make these the new 150 and 170 Montauk ideal small craft for fishing, exploring and pleasure boating with family members of all ages. The Montauks are also well-suited to yacht tendering duties.
Captains from novice to expert will appreciate the intuitive helm console with stainless steel accents, crew gain added safety in the stable hulls from abundant rails, while Mercury FourStroke outboards shift the boats from whoa to go.
An optional Fishing Package adds a compass, larger cooler seats with cushion and backrest, console-mounted rod holders and tackle drawers. Raymarine electronics packages — including RealVision 3D technology — are available, too.
NEW FEATURES
Among the new features on the 170 Montauk are an integrated 85lt fuel tank and an integrated forward fish box with overboard drainage — two additions that customers will certainly appreciate.
For Whaler's anniversary year, the 150 and 170 Montauk are available with a Teak Package that includes teak boarding steps and swim ladder flooring, lending stylish "vintage" flair that coordinates beautifully with the boats' clean, timeless aesthetic. For model year 2018, these boats will also feature a custom 60th Anniversary badge.
The new 150 and 170 each include a standard galvanised trailer with swing tongue, disc breaks and LED lights for safe, seamless transport. Stowing the 150 or 170 Montauk in a compact garage or driveway is eminently practical.
