Boston Whaler has released a new and powerful 380 Outrage to cover the full spectrum of on-water activities in keeping with today’s broad appeal of the centre console layout.
The big American Whaler brand is pitching its new 380 Outrage as a boat equally suited to epic offshore runs as it is memorable social gatherings. Certainly, the 16-person rated capacity such a claim.
While Whaler says it has focussed on comforts and ease of operation, the proven deep-V hull with 23 degrees of deadrise is one of the most aggressive in the line-up. A triple 300-350hp outboard rig, the new 380 Outrage is an offshore thoroughbred just like the 370 Outrage it supplants.
Whaler says it’s the new combination of greater user-friendly amenities, sophisticated storage solutions and that precision-engineered V-hull that promises unsurpassed performance and endless enjoyment across multiple boating roles.
FISHING FEATURES
For anglers, fishing features abound. They range from in-built bait and fish wells to an optional half tower (pictured) that takes the boat to a tournament trim level.
Whaler has a standard supersized transom live well with 227lt capacity, a well-equipped leaning post, an integrated hardtop with rod holders, and large in-floor fish boxes.
The optional Upper Station with advanced helm provides big-boat views and added captaining confidence when spotting fish or driving down and fighting the hooked ones.
COMFORT FEATURES
Whaler says there are numerous other features that make the 380 Outrage a stand-out in the brand’s big-hitting centre console range.
For entertaining, the optional Summer Kitchen (aka cockpit amenities centre) includes a grill and refrigerator/freezer, plus storage for all your snacks and food prep gear.
Below decks, the (optional air-conditioned) cabin has a convertible settee/V-berth designed as an inviting retreat from the elements, a private space to enjoy a meal, and accommodation to stay overnight.
Of course, the big cockpit ensures there's no shortage of space to spread out and relax. A new aft-facing lounge with optional table, and a convertible aft bench, plus an electronically-deploying sunshade option, all add to you comfort.
The spacious bow includes a plush lounge (with cavernous storage below) and its own optional second sunshade. In other words, there’s plush shaded seating from bow-to-stern.
PERFORMANCE OPTIONS
The 380 Outrage is billed as a champion offshore performer, delivering a remarkably soft, safe, dry ride as suggested by the true deep-vee hull.
Triple supercharged Mercury Verado four-stroke outboard engines — from the 300hp to 350hp models — with optional Joystick Piloting provide strong and reliable power along with easy docking.
The options' list is extensive in keeping with the 380 Outrage’s anticipated broad appeal, running the gamut from Raymarine navigational packages to various leaning posts, outrigger options, Mercury Active Trim, even 11 painted hull colours from Fighting Lady Yellow to Wasabi and Tectonic Silver.
As for top speed, try 44.3 knots (cracking 51mph, that is) with the triple 350 Verados. According to Whaler's official data you will score a 350nm range at almost 31 knots cruise at 4500rpm.
One cool new Outrage that replaces, improves and builds on the popular and awarded 370 Outrage.
