New Birkenhead Point Marina opens

From its previous status as a popular 187-berth marina, Birkenhead Point Marina at the iconic harbour-front locale and shopping centre has been redeveloped into an exciting 201-berth marina set to officially open July 15.

In the process, the marina configuration has been modified and additional berths added. The marina now offers more than 200 berths from 8m through to 45m in length for permanent, casual or shopping berthing, with discounted onsite parking and a convenient tenant drop-off area.

In keeping with today’s boating demands, bigger berths have been included ranging all the way up to 45m superyacht slots. Running at 80 per cent occupancy at the time of writing, Birkenhead Point Marina had berths available from 15m, 18m, 20m and bigger boats.

The marina berth availability at Birkenhead Point is timely and good news for prospective boat owners shopping at the Sydney International Boat Show (opening July 30), where rafts of new luxury craft will be looking for a home on the harbour.

Meantime, the marina operators are making a big deal of the new full-service fuel wharf with docking assistance and refuelling experts on hand. Fuel prices will be very competitive, we’re told.

The 70m-long fuel wharf is lined with inviting Super Fender to prevent bingles and there are four separate refuelling stations, with diesel and 95 premium unleaded, plus a separate 300 litre/min high-flow diesel pump drawing from an 110,000 litres main tank.

A floating office and kiosk have opened as part of the new marina, with attendants and fuel sales from 7am-5pm weekdays and 8.30am-5pm weekends. The kiosk will also offer drinks, chips, coffee to go, and bait. And all on Sydney Harbour at Birkenhead Point, just west of the Harbour Bridge.

Take a tip and avail yourself of the visitor and shopping berths. You can wheel your shopping trolley from the supermarkets, butcher, baker, grog shop and clothing stores right to your boat for easy provisioning. Got birko at Birko' in your Birkos.
