At the recent Beneteau conference in the Vendee region of France, Beneteau's home turf, new and upgraded models were announced for the coming year.
Created in 1986, the Oceanis range continues to offer new cruising perspectives with the announcement of two new models – the Oceanis 35 and 60. The line has been extended at either end by the two new cruisers, each with a different look and design, but united by the same coastal cruising and offshore lifestyle ideals.
Importer Sundance Marine says the new Oceanis 35 is a genuinely big 35 footer, similar in design to the recently released Oceanis 38. The new Oceanis 35 shows off a lot of volume inside and has a great size cockpit for a 35 footer. This new model is likely to prove a popular addition to the Australian market, we're told.
When it comes to sailing, the Oceanis 35 boasts a modern fully-chined hull giving her stability and a moderate angle of heel. Once again, comfort and high-performance come with a balanced sail plan: mast at the boat’s centre and little overlap from the genoa. The mainsail sheet on the arch makes for easy handling.
Immediately recognisable, the deck plans and contemporary interiors are by the Italian Nauta Design team: taupe linings matching light-coloured wood fittings and brown oak flooring creating a warm atmosphere. Through four large hull portholes, the boat is very light below for this size of cruiser, says the manufacturer.
The Oceanis 60 with her striking dark blue hull is a sign of the maxi-yacht spirit of this new Oceanis. With an unusual deck plan and an elegant interior design, she combines comfort at sea and pleasure at anchor.
The hull is designed to reduce the heel angle and optimise sailing performance. The Oceanis 60 is fitted with a mainsail arch which is a signature of the new range and it boasts the largest cockpit in its class. Completely new is a magnificent rear deck, extending the outdoor living space and doubling as a sun lounge.
Below deck level, the bathing platform automatically shuts off dinghy garage. Led inside by gently sloping and generously large steps, you are struck by the luxurious space bathed in light, as a result of ingenious placement of hatches, windows and fittings.
In well equipped three or four cabin versions, the flagship of the latest generation of Oceanis will accommodate family or friends in comfort.
