The new Barracuda 6 is the latest addition to the namesake range of cabin-equipped walkaround boats designed especially for fishing. The family includes the Barracuda 7, 8 and 9, but this new 6 is the smallest model by far.
Measuring 5.52m in length, the Barracuda 6 builds on the experience gained from the Barracuda Tour, a no-kill sea bass sportfishing competition organised by Beneteau every year. The comp is set down for Port Crouesty in the Bay of Biscay for 2017.
Beneteau says the new model "powerfully champions the identity of this incredibly dynamic range, which has found a public among keen fishers and coast al cruisers since it was created in 2011."
FISHING FEATURES
Keen fishers will find a large cockpit with built-in fishing station and live-bait well, while a large starboard walkway affords easy access to the bow where there is a second comfortable fishing spot.
Two side bench seats can be added to the removable bench at the transom, offering greater comfort for crew when travelling or at anchor, yet still providing plenty of open fishing space, Beneteau says.
OPTIMISED SPACE
Thee are plenty of options for the Barracuda 6. The basic model can be equipped with canvas closing off the pilothouse from the cockpit, while the more comfortable optional version has two sliding doors. There is a similar choice between ordinary seats and bolster seats.
The Barracuda 6 is said to have a huge cabin and stowage area that converts to a temporary berth, with a marine toilet available as a first for an outboard boat of this size, claims Beneteau. The dark-grey cabin finishes help with low maintenance.
SEAWORTHY AND SAFE
Built on the latest generation of outboard engine hulls developed by Beneteau, the Barracuda 6 is said to be quick to plane, remarkably stable underway, and safely cut through waves.
There are three different outboard-engine choices: 90hp, 115hp and 140hp.
Said to inherit the sporty temperament of her sister ships, the new Barracuda 6 will break cover at the European boat shows starting with La Rochelle and Southampton in September 2017.
