New beach moorings at Rottnest

 Club Marine Insurance, together with Boating Western Australia (BWA) and Rottnest Island Authority (RIA), will install 12 beach moorings at Rottnest Island, 10nm off Perth’s coast.

The new beach moorings will be located at Thomson Bay to the south of Hotel Jetty and at the eastern end of Geordie Bay. They are expected to be available in early March and will be free to use on the basis of 'first in, best dressed'. The beach anchors are suitable for vessels up to 7.5m in length and can be used in lieu of anchors on the beach.

Beach anchoring points installed four years ago elsewhere in Thomson Bay by the Rottnest Island Authority have proven popular among visitors and are considered a safe and sociable way to secure a vessel, while the bay’s seagrass, vegetation and shoreline benefit from the use of these well-managed moorings.

An avid boatie who frequently cruises to Rottnest Island to enjoy the pristine beaches and secluded bays, Club Marine State Manager WA Carina Campo is pleased to support the RIA’s initiative to enhance boating safety with the installation of additional beach moorings.
