With sleek lines, flush deck hatches and large hull windows courtesy of accomplished Italian superyacht artisans Cossutti Yachts Design, the new Bavaria C50 follows on from the C57 and C45 recently launched by the big German yard.
The Bavaria C50 has a Category A open-ocean rating and certification, of course, but also big performance claims from a sporty carbon rig including mast and boom and matching wheels, along with a large gennaker for power reaching.
Known for their fast and elegant yachts, Maurizio Cossutti and Alessandro Ganz designed a deck layout that also leads to relaxed sailing.
With twin wheel and winches alongside, the sails can be easily set and retrieved in all conditions and, of course, trimmed while shorthanded.
“From the helm stand, the helmsman always has the Bavaria C50, all the instruments and the sail, in sight. Turning with the self-tacking jib is child’s play and allows the Bavaria C50 to be controlled with just one hand,” the press release goes on to say.
ACCOMMODATION
Available in three different layout specifications — Holiday, Style or Ambition — the Bavaria C50 offers three to five cabins, plus the option of an additional crew cab in the bow for European markets.
Bavaria says it has gone to great lengths to give the cabins an individual design. While the guest cabins on the port side has a true king-size bed, the owner’s cabin in the bow has a queen-size bed, dresser, separate shower and bath, and lots of stowage room for personal effects.
The saloon is said to have a unique lighting concept designed to add to the sense of space. Natural light shines through the large hull windows onto plush lounges and the dining area.
The full-sized galley includes plenty of bench space and storage, 250 litres of fridge and freezer, and a 20-bottle wine cooler.
The navigation area is a control hub for all on-board systems, with the latest digital switching, while also doubling as a home office.
RELAXATION
The joy of sailing is said to be at the forefront of the yacht’s design. Relaxation is another driver.
Behind the large bathing platform is a dinghy garage and stowage space for everything needed for diving or snorkelling.
With its twin tables, and BBQ grill and wetbar, the cockpit is the ideal spot for sunbathing and doing lunch. There are plenty of seats and sun lounges from bow to stern.
The new C50 and C45 sistership will debut at boot Düsseldorf from January 20-28, marking a well-timed return to the popular owner/driver yacht class at a time when much of the activity has been above 55-feet.
