It may come as a surprise to some, but Mandurah boat show is on hold this year at least. The news is out that the Boating Industry Association of Western Australia (BIAWA) will be running the Perth International Boat Show instead at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and Elizabeth Quay from September 22-24, 2017.
The Mandurah Boat Show will take a break in 2017, its been reported, with the Mandurah Offshore Fishing Club expected to make an announcement on the future of the event soon. Exhibitors and display volumes have been down at this otherwise chummy show in the last few years.
The BIAWA has announced the launch of the new Perth International Boat Show in 2017 with great excitement and high hopes of creating a professionally run boat show and the major annual boating event for Western Australia.
The Perth International Boat Show has been in the planning stage for the past two years and, thus, includes a lot of input, feedback and fresh ideas, we're told.
PERTH BOAT SHOW VISION
The marine-industry vision is to create one major boat show for WA that is of an international standard and ably reflects WA's prosperous and diverse marine industry, with both local and international brands, big and small boats, on-water and indoor displays, and lots of visitors.
The Perth International Boat Show will be a similar model to the Sydney Boat Show, utilising the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and on-water displays within the Elizabeth Quay, organisers say.
The Show will run from Friday September 22 to Sunday September 24, 2017, and will combine a Trade Show with entertainment and related activities.
BOAT SHOW PROSPECTUS
The prospectus for PIBS has been released and includes details about the proposed layout.
Organisers says the indoor displays will feature trailerboats from all major brands and manufacturers from across Australia, marine electronics including navigation and communications, safety equipment, aquatic recreation equipment, displays from government agencies, travel and tourism information, insurance and finance, and of crouse, fishing and outdoor-related products.
There has been speculation about the on-water displays, particularly for larger craft. Organisers say boats under 15m will be displayed within the Quay, while big boats (over 15m) will be outside the Quay. Mentioned is also made of covered walkways and pontoons, and on-water boat demos and trials, plus "how to" demonstrations, celebrity entertainers and special guests, stage shows and family entertainment, and on-water entertainment.
