New 2017 Hampton 650 Pilothouse for serious cruising

Slotting in between the existing 620 and 680, the new Hampton 650 Pilothouse is designed and built for comfortable, safe, and dependable cruising, with the Taiwanese yard saying it has paid great attention to detail in every facet of construction to please custom-boat buyers.

Founded in 1992, Hampton Yachts offers a range of semi-custom motoryachts, but its in-house design team has spent many years refining the owner/driver pilothouse 'yacht' in the 58-78ft range above all else.

This solidly-built new 650 with covered side decks offers high-quality custom interiors to suit each owner's specifications. The wide 17' 8” beam is said to allow for large and comfortable living spaces, with all the luxurious amenities to create a true liveaboard, while diesel engine power around 800hp will give long range and fast speeds up to mid-20 knots.

HULL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Designed by renowned naval architect, Howard Apollonio, the planing hull incorporates a modified deep-V design with high forward deadrise sections for a smooth entry in head seas and flatter aft sections with split-chine  This results in an efficient planing surface and a comfortable, stable, and safe ride. This hull also incorporates propeller tunnels to lower the propeller shaft angle for greater efficiency and directional stability.

The 100 per cent hand-laid fiberglass hull is moulded in one piece with five outer layers of vinylester resin for blister resistance. The hull is solid fiberglass reinforced with two layers of Kevlar from chine to chine and three layers of Kevlar in a forward collision zone. The deck, deckhouse and flybridge are cored with "Divinycell" for maximum strength to weight ratio.

HELM STATIONS
The pilothouse of the Hampton 650 is all about visibility. The large instrument panel allows for easy installation of the latest instrumentation and navigation equipment, while a settee, with an adjustable table and burl inlays, offers a comfortable place to sit and converse with the captain while under way. It can also be converted to a dinette for six at the dock.

The flybridge amenities include a large seating area with adjustable table, helm bench, jump seat, wet bar, refrigerator, and BBQ space.

CUSTOM SALOON
The main saloon of the Hampton 650 offers flexibility for each owner's customisation. You can choose from freestanding or built-in furniture from standard floor plans, or you can work directly with Hampton's in-house design team to create your own design.

The saloon is equipped with the very latest in high-tech audio and video entertainment equipment, including a 42" HD/ LED TV and Bose surround sound system. The galley, located amidships on the main deck, is said to enjoy ample light from the pilothouse windows and has access to both salon and pilothouse. Premium appliances are complemented by the owner's choice of Corian or granite countertop and top quality fixtures.

GENEROUS ACCOMMODATION
Below decks, the wide beam allows for three spacious staterooms with plenty of storage and comfortable amenities. Hampton's design team has spent extensive time, both on the computer and in the yacht itself, to ensure maximum space utilisation via crafted built-in dressers, nightstands, and vanity spaces that adorn each stateroom.

The master stateroom features a king-size bed with excellent storage space and cedar-lined hanging lockers. The master head has a shower tub lined with Corian. Premium quality faucets and granite or Corian countertops are features. Each guest head also has a beautifully designed enclosed shower stall.

The VIP stateroom is forward with a centreline queen bed and abundant locker and drawer space. An aircraft-style door in the transom leads to the large swim platform, and easy access is provided to the engine room that has been carefully designed with an emphasis on serviceability.
