Safety on the water is something always in the mind of every boater and those boating after dark are even more aware of the problem.
Even on the brightest of moonlight, someone falling overboard -- particularly in a swell -- is almost impossible to see. After experiencing just such an incident in 2005, Navisafe designer Jo Engebrigtsen set about designing a light that would eliminate some of the hazard.
His answer was a battery-powered lantern with 360 degree lights that was fully waterproof, robust, small enough to fit in a pocket and that could be effectively fitted to a jacket or cap with a built-in double magnet system.
The Navi light has both a strong steady light or an ultra bright emergency flash mode. Although compact and powered by three AAA batteries the emergency light is visible for up to 5 nautical miles (9.2km) in darkness.
The light uses super bright LEDs to ensure reliable operation and long battery life.
The Navi light won a Norwegian Design Council award and soon became one of the top-selling safety lights in Europe.
Following the signing of a new distribution agreement RFD is now offering a range of Navisafe products including the Navi light 360, the Navi light red/green, a glow in the dark torch and the Navi light hunter for outdoor use on land.
