Nationals fear impact from Moreton Bay Green closures

Senator Ron Boswell, the leader of The Nationals in the Senate, attending the recent Brisbane International Boat Show, called on boating industry leaders to get involved in the current Moreton Bay rezoning process, saying that their industry could be badly affected by the resultant cuts in local boating and fishing activity.

"No-one has more to lose than the boating industry, which is greatly reliant on the fishing dollar," said Boswell.

He repeated his call for the Queensland Government to release the EPA's mapping which shows their areas of interest for green zone closures in Moreton Bay, and to immediately gauge and address compensation issues that would arise from closures.

Boswell said that, if the State Government and their EPA were genuine about open consultation with boating and fishing industries, they would have no issues with releasing the maps.
