The famed Mustang sports cruiser brand made its much-anticipated return at the 2011 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show with a major surprise.
The revitalised company unveiled two versions of its new two-cabin 32 Sports Cruiser -- one powered through a sterndrive driven by a single Mercruiser 8.2 Mag DTS Bravo petrol engine developing 380hp, and another sporting a Mercruiser QSD 350 DTS Bravo 3x rated to 350hp.
But the major surprise was the unveiling of a third Mustang -- a top-of-the-range Mustang 50 complete with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion.
While the sporty Mustang 32 offers a three-side enclosed cockpit and entertaining area and two cabins, the big Mustang 50 is a three-cabin model with a fully-enclosed saloon, large aft deck for entertaining and, below decks, a massive full-beam master stateroom amidships.
Marketing Director Luke Durman said the new design builds on the tradition of Mustang.
“We have taken the brand back to its roots,” he said. “Mustang again stands for great family sports cruisers at a competitive price.”
The new Mustang 32 Sports Cruiser is priced at a base $215,000 with very few options to be desired. The Mustang 50 has a base price of $1,035,000.
According to Bill Barry-Cotter, more than half of the Mustang production over time will go to markets in the United States.
