More power to John Deere
JDPS unveils new Powertech turbo diesel enginesJohn Deere Power Systems (JDPS) will begin production of three new marine electronic turbo-diesel engines - the PowerTech 6068AFM75, 6090SFM75 and 6135SFM75.
These six-cylinder marine engines are the newest additions to the John Deere line-up and offer a power range of 139kW (186hp) up to 559kW (750 hp). They are due to hit the water in early 2010 and are said to meet EPA Tier 2 and EU emissions requirements, as well as being MARPOL Annex VI compliant.
"We have developed our new marine engines to provide commercial and recreational marine customers with higher horsepower ratings," said Len Clutterbuck, John Deere Limited Division Manager for Power Systems.
"These engines are ideal for a variety of commercial and recreational applications. The new engines will provide our customers with more options, while living up to the reputation our marine products have earned for rugged durability, fuel economy, quiet operation and ease of maintenance," he said.
The 246 kW (330hp) 6.8lt PowerTec 6068AFM75 with air-to-coolant aftercooling is said to deliver high horsepower in a small package and offer more flexibility in this popular power range.
The 9lt PowerTech 6090SFM75 with air-to-seawater aftercooling develops 373kW (500hp), while the 559kW (750hp) 13.5lt PowerTech 6135SFM75 with air-to-seawater aftercooling is the most powerful engine produced by John Deere, with high torque at low-rated speeds.
