New Gold Coast luxury catamaran builder Montebello Yachts says even the well healed are looking for economical cruising, cost-effective berthing and easy maintenance these days, and that its range of powerboats fits that bill.
Going into the boat show season, Montebello says it has four potential new clients, one of whom is an international.
"We are in negotiations on specifications and price. This is above any expectations we had," says Frances Zamparutti, Montebello Yachts marketing and administration manager.
The company said it currently has under construction a vessel for a WA client with a closed-in flybridge, which will be exhibited at Perth's Mandurah Boat Show in October, and another boat for a client in Mackay with delivery to North Queensland expected in August.
In July, Montebello Yachts said it will commence the build of its first 12.5M Coupe model for a Gold Coast client, with information on the final design and specs to be posted on the builder's website this month.
Montebello added that is now planning the launch of its first 12.5M Sailing Catamaran with the R&D almost complete, and the first order to commence in August.
Montebello Yachts production manager, Dave Smith and CEO, Gary Zamparutti, said they are excited by the prospect of producing Australian catamarans that are considered among the best in the world. The hulls are all drafted from the pen of lauded NZ catamaran designer Roger Hill.
