The third season of Million Dollar Fish is poised to open on October 1, 2017, with 101 tagged barra ready to jump on your lure and line at multiple locations across the Northern Territory and earn you cash prizes from $10k to $1m.
The fish could be anywhere from as far north as Willigi, as far east as Nhulunbuy, as far south as Borroloola, Victoria River, to as far west as Dundee Beach and Bathurst Island.
Only barra have been tagged and released and there are 101 of them sporting a CrownBet Season 3 Tag and bounty on their heads.
Once again, 100 of the tagged barramundi will command a $10k cash prize, while one other very special fish will be worth $1m if it’s caught.
In addition, every entrant in the Million Dollar Fish competition is in the running to win $91,000 worth of prizes.
Line fishing is the only accepted technique that may be used by Entrants to catch a barramundi with a CrownBet Fish Tag. The red tags contain the words: "Million Dollar Fish Competition."
There are strict rules about claiming the cash prizes. Entrants must have completed a valid registration (link below) and comply with the Terms and Conditions before presenting any Claim for a CrownBet Tagged Fish Cash Prize.
The fish must be photographed with the tag in place and then verified by calling 1800 077 001.
Only barra caught during the competition period from midnight October 1, 2017, to 11:59pm on February 28 2018 are eligible. Any previous Million Dollar Fish Tags are not eligible.
With around 50,000 people registering for the competition each season, the Million Dollar Fish campaign has been a boon for Top End tourism, boosting the economy, attracting new visitors and creating jobs for locals.
For some lucky anglers, it’s also rich pickings with $10k in the hand and, for some, double that as they have caught two tagged fish over the course of the competition.
