The secret tag number of the $1 million barra at liberty for Season 2 of Tourism NT’s Million Dollar Fish competition has been revealed.
Minister for Tourism and Culture Lauren Moss joined cricket legend and Million Dollar Fish ambassador Matthew Hayden at the Dinah Beach boat ramp to announce the secret number.
"If you’re lucky enough to catch a red tagged barra and it carries tag number 2656 you are an instant millionaire for Million Dollar Fish Season 2," Ms Moss said.
With nearly 45,000 people registering for the competition, the Million Dollar Fish campaign has been a boon for Top End tourism, boosting the economy, attracting new visitors and creating jobs for locals.
"Million Dollar Fish is also extremely important for local business and fishing tour operators over the quieter wet season," Ms Moss added.
Fishos are reminded not to remove the tag until they have taken a photo of the fish with the red Million Dollar Fish tag clearly visible and placed on a ruler or tape measure to show the length of the fish for verification.
The Million Dollar Fish is still out there and anglers are in the running until Season 2 of the competition comes to a closes in a week's time.
To date, Season 2 has been deemed another great success, with eight lucky winners landing $10,000 barra each already.
This means there are still 92 barra worth $10,000 each at liberty, as well as the prized million dollar fish swimming about.
There are also four fishing trips to Top End destinations up for grabs just by registering for Season 2 of the Million Dollar Fish Competition.
The Million Dollar Fish Season 2 competition opened on October 1, 2016 and closes midnight February 28, 2017. To be eligible you must register online at the Million Dollar Fish website.
