The high-performance, direct-injection OptiMax ProXS range of Mercury outboards has been expanded with the introduction to the local market of new 115 Pro XS and 200 Pro XS models.
With a number of locally produced boats carrying a maximum horsepower rating of 115hp, Mercury says the enhanced performance of the 115 ProXS will enable owners to get the best out of their craft.
Nicholas Webb, Mercury's director of outboard product, told BoatPoint the OptiMax Pro XS outboards offer improved acceleration, better cruising speed with heavier loads and increased top speed.
"Competitive fishers, for example, who want to get every advantage they can get, are going to love the 200 Pro XS," Webb says.
He says the higher wide-open-throttle RPM operating range will give owners more propeller options to maximize a boat's performance and efficiency.
"These engines are nice and light too -- 170 and 229 kilograms respectively -- which only adds to their superior performance characterstics," Webb says.
The engines are equipped with a belt-driven 60 amp alternator and are compatable with Mercury's Big Tiller operating system which has integrated shift, trim and throttle controls.
Both engines are backed by Mercury's 3+2 warranty for recreational use.
