Mercury's new 20hp four-stroke outboard
Mercury Marine said it has extended its four-stroke outboard lineup with the introduction of an all-new 20hp modelThe manufacturer said that while weighing in at only 53kgs, its new 20hp engine still boasts plenty of power with a 351cc displacement.
"This is an engine which delivers top performance in a fully-featured, yet lightweight and portable package," said Mercury's product director for outboards, Ken Evans.
"Our four-strokes have long led the pack in clean, quiet, fuel-efficient outboard power, and our new 20hp model is no exception," he said.
Importantly, with fuel prices getting higher and higher, Mercury Marine said its four-stroke technology has been proven to consume 40 per cent less fuel across the board which translates to extraordinary savings.
A 3-star VELS rating means the engine is also environmentally friendly with ultra-low emissions, said Mercury Marine.
The new 20hp has a multi-function tiller with an exclusive shift-in-handle design, said Mercury Marine, providing steering, throttle, throttle friction and stop controls for one-hand operation.
Mercury Marine said the manual trim models have automatic reverse hooks, while power-tilt models are in 38 and 50cm shaft lengths. The outboard has manual or electric start (electric-start models also have a manual starter).
Along with super-quiet performance, thanks to a through-prop exhaust which buries exhaust noise underwater, the engine also has a unique mounting system that reduces vibration, said Mercury Marine.
