Mercury's Big Tiller expands

More engines added to Big Tiller range, with options for between 40hp to 250hp

The Big Tiller, introduced by Mercury Marine to enable fishermen and other recreational mariners to make more use of the room in their boats by steering from the stern, can now be fitted to 40-60hp four-stroke outboards in the company's range.

The Big Tiller can now be adapted to a range of Mercury and Mariner engines including 40 to 115hp FourStrokes, 75 to 250hp OptiMax engines and 135 to 200hp four-cylinder engines with SmartCraft Digital throttle and shift.

The Big Tiller has integrated shift, trim and throttle controls and the tiller angle, throttle handle and valve tension can all be easily modified to suit individual owners.

The great advantage of the Big Tiller to fishermen is that the shift arm and the power trim are right under the operator's thumb at the end of the steering arm. The throttle also rotates only 110 degrees, rather than the cumbersome 120-180 degrees of some arms.
