Mercury redesigns shift and throttle control

Improved mechanical remote control for Mercury outboards now available through national dealers

Redesigned from the ground up, Mercury’s new and improved mechanical remote control has been designed for boat owners who want to upgrade the handling and styling of their craft.

The new look side-mount control is said to make boating easier and more efficient for all drivers regardless of their experience behind the wheel.

Mercury also says the re-engineering of the control box has been executed to deliver greater performance.

The enhanced shift mechanism is said to make shifting smoother and easier to provide drivers with an improved feel when they are at the controls.

The unit’s external cables have been upgraded to increase their flex endurance, extending their life-span and reducing the chance of any servicing issues.

A redesigned handle has been included for "state-of-the-art ergonomics for long days on the water."

The new mechanical remote control also improves the aesthetics of the whole unit.

Mercury believes its new side-mount remote engine control sets the standard for mechanically-controlled and cable shift outboard engines.
