Mercury recall

Mariner and Mercury Verado L6 outboards affected

Mercury is recalling its Mercury and Mariner Verado L6 outboards.

The recall affects all L6 200/225/250/275/300/350 SCi model engines with serial numbers of 1B812047 and below.

The problem is that Mercury Marine has identified a potential for corrosion cracking at the base of the shift control studs of both the shift bell crank and the upper shift shaft  resulting in potential problems with the shift control.

If the bell crank stud does fail, the operator will lose shift control which may leave the vessel stranded and in a hazardous position.

Owners of the affected engines are requested not to use their vessels and to contact their nearest Mercury/Mariner dealer to arrange for the bell crank stud to be replaced free of charge.

Owners of the engines which come under the recall will be notified by mail.

Owners of used Verados should check the engine’s serial number and if in doubt, contact the nearest dealer for advice and/or rectification.
For your nearest dealer location please refer to the website www.mercurymarine.com.au

Bointpoint.com.au and Boatsales.com.au contacted Mercury Marine for an official comment but at the time of publishing had received no word from the company.
