Mercury dominates 24 hours of Rouen

Mercury Marine said it has once again taken top honours - and more - at the world famous 24 Hours of Rouen endurance powerboat race in Rouen, France

Mercury said its outboard engines powered home the top eight finishers in the gruelling enduro classic, which, it said, is the ultimate test for outboard engines as the boats run non-stop, with the exception of fuel stops and driver exchanges, for 24 hours.

Team Casino Forges Eaux, a Moore hull with a Mercury S3000 race outboard, took out the 45th running of the classic, finishing 798 laps of the course.

Forty-four laps behind was Team Star Boat, another Class 3 competitor also powered by a Mercury S3000 race outboard.

Mercury said its low-emission OptiMax motors also excelled at Rouen, with the fuel injected two-stroke technology dominating Class 2 competition - filling four of the top five positions.

Powered by a Mercury OptiMax 200XS SST race outboard, the Quicksilver Boat Team completed 676 laps to win the class and finish an astounding third overall!

Fourth overall and second in Class 2, some 46 laps behind, was the Mercury SST 120 outboard powered CMN.
