Owners of boats powered by Mercruiser 200hp and 350hp inboard engines have been warned a fuel line failure may spark a fire on their vessel.
Mercury Marine has issued a voluntary recall notice for the 4.5-litre and 6.2-litre sterndrive, inboard and tow sport engines after reports of a crack appearing in the fuel supply module.

The crack can result in fuel leaking into the engine compartment, which can increase the risk of a fire, the recall notice says.
The recall relates to engines sold through 32 dealerships from September 1, 2018 to March 31 this year.
Owners who believe their inboard MerCruiser engine may be affected by the recall are advised to contract their nearest MerCruiser dealer.
Both of these engines were subject to a recall last year. However, that one related to a power steering pully used in some engines that could potentially overheat and spark a fire.

The recall also comes at the same time as the Australian Maritime Safety Authority has issued a separate warning for all boat owners to be aware of petrol vapours collecting inside boats, increasing the risk of a fire or explosion.
