MasterCraft unleashes the new XT21 crossover wakeboat

Solid wakes, endless waves and smooth skiing from a new 21 footer in the XT crossover range

MasterCraft Boat Company has just introduced the new XT21, an agile new mid-sized multi-purpose boat that joins the MasterCraft XT23 flagship we just tested (in that link) and the XT20 entry-level model in this hot crossover range.

The third addition to MasterCraft’s do-everything XT boat line, the 21-foot XT21 replaces the company’s legendary X10 crossover with a boat improved in every way, the Tennessee boatbuilder says.

The all-new hull on the XT21 is said to deliver responsive handling with minimum bow rise and improves performance for on-water activities with solid wakes, endless waves and smooth skiing.

The whole idea with the XT Series is to produce a towboat for all activities with premium features and performance but a more approachable price. Globally, the new series has been very well received.

THE NEW MIDDLEWEIGHT
Positioned between the new 23-foot XT23 and 20-foot XT20, the XT21 is described as a middleweight crossover boat that is easy to tow while being spacious enough to accommodate a crew of up to 14 people.

Like all MasterCraft boats, the optional award-winning Gen 2 Surf System has been custom designed for the new hull to create three zones of perfectly sculpted lips and sizeable curling surf waves.

The Gen 2 Surf System combined with customised hard-sided tanks caries up to 1133kg or 2500lbs of ballast to optimise the wake and amplify it to new levels, MasterCraft says.

NEW GEAR
Among the dozen-plus upgrades on the XT21 is a unique new cockpit layout with comfortable seating for up to 14 and 2.46 cubic metres of storage space to keeps the decks clear.

MasterCraft says the interior has gone through a premium styling makeover, including a spacious helm with a new ergonomic captain seat, new dash, billet aluminum accents, and optional new Cool Feel vinyl that stays cool to the touch in direct sunlight. Owners can also opt for the premium, under seat Cordova Cooler that keeps everything and everyone chilled.

DOCKSTAR AND TOWER OPTIONS
An option across the MasterCraft range, the XT21 can be outfitted with the revolutionary new Dockstar Handling System. The innovative flanking rudder system s designed to make manoeuvering in tight spots and crowded marinas a breeze.

The XT21 also includes a choice of easy-lifting customisable towers, either the ZFT4 or ZFT7 Power Tower, with the latter available in countless custom colors, speaker layouts and vertical storage options.

Continuing the options, the exterior of the XT21 can also be completely customized thanks to a broadened palette of gelcoat and flake color patterns.

ENGINE MATCH
The new XT21 is powered by the newest General Motors engines marinised exclusively for MasterCraft by Ilmor Marine.

The standard offering is a 5.7L multi-port injection V8 engine (5000 MPI V8). If you prefer gasoline direct injection, two new Ilmor Gen Five motor options are available including the 5500 GDI V8 (5.3L) — that's a sweet engine on the XT23 — or the bolder 6000 GDI V8 model (6.2L).

Like all MasterCraft boats, the XT21 comes with a five year MasterCare protection plan after being hand-built by master craftsmen in the company’s U.S.-based manufacturing facility in Vonore, TN.

MasterCraft says its boats are constructed with quality and reliability in mind, resulting in the highest resale values in the industry. Dealers begin taking orders on XT21 models immediately.
