MasterCraft has released a new version of its XT22 wake boat, adding the option of a traditional bow that will sell alongside the pickle-fork configuration of the model released last year.
According to MasterCraft, the MasterCraft XT22 T – that extra letter denotes that the boat carries the traditional bow shape – is a boat “for those seeking classic styling without compromise”.
“Featuring athletic behind-the-boat performance with ample comfort and space in a 22-foot package, the all-new XT22 T makes your on-water traditions bigger and better,” MasterCraft said.
Apart from the shape of the bow, which allows for a larger lounge space forward, the only big difference between the MasterCraft XT22 and XT22 T is in the number of people it can carry – 14 with the traditional bow versus 16 for the pickle-forked one.
This is because of MasterCraft’s flatter forward design for the “Vector Drive” hull buoyancy in the pickle-fork bow compared with the traditional vee-shaped hull.
A big change, though, is that the wake boat using the traditionally shaped bow can carry more onboard ballast than its bigger-bowed version – important for shaping wakes behind the boat – 2390kg versus 1520kg.
Another significant difference between the two boats is length, with the MasterCraft XT22 measuring 6.81 metres length overall, while the XT22 T comes in at just 6.65 metres.
The MasterCraft XT22 T also has a little bit more storage onboard, offering 3.31 cubic metres of space compared with the MasterCraft XT22’s 2.92 cubic metres, a difference of roughly the equivalent of a small hatchback's boot space.
Apart from a slight overall weight difference – the MasterCraft XT22 T is about 90kg lighter – the boats are identical in every other measurement.
The MasterCraft XT22 T was officially launched in the US last night. The MasterCraft XT22 featuring the pickle-fork bow is available in Australia priced from about $260,000.
