A new Marlow 53 that's described as a serious but manageable passagemaker is due to hit Australia shores at the end of the year.
"We
built this boat for local availability and ownership, as it is the perfect size for a
cruising family or couple to be able to explore the entire coastline of
Australia and beyond yet can be easily handled by two people without the need for
captain or crew," he said.
"The vessel will be here in late November so would be the ultimate Christmas present for any boating couple or family."
Powered by twin Cummins 715hp diesel engines, the Marlow 53 is described as a high quality, extremely well-appointed, 'boaties' boat' that is equally comfortable slipping along at 9.5 knots or racing up to 26 knots offshore.
Renown for their volume, interior fit out, accommodation and sea-keeping capabilities, Marlow Motor Yachts have an established reputation internationally and especially in the Pacific North West of America, where long passages are par for the course.
With an overall length of 18.2 metres, or 60 feet in the old measure,
the Marlow 53 is a big boat for its model designation with what might be called American sizing.
Pacific Motor Yachts Australia believes the arrival of the first Marlow 53 will be the start of a significant number of the vessels headed Downunder, especially as competing motoryachts of this type have been slow out of the blocks in recent years.
PMY's Managing Director Brett Thurley said the Marlow 53 sits in the same market space as Grand Banks and Fleming long-range cruisers, but that Marlow's sheer volume and supreme build quality are two key points of difference.
"This is a seriously big long-range cruiser and it includes some ground-breaking technology including a hydraulic joystick docking system supplied by Twin Disc for ease of maneuvering in marinas and berthing," Thurley said.
"The Marlow 53 is an economical, pilothouse trawler-style cruiser that we think will have great appeal to Australian boaties because it is rugged enough for our conditions, but has levels of comfort and fit out at the forefront of boat-manufacturing internationally.
"We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first Marlow 53 into Australia before Christmas and I am confident it will be a head turner."
THREE-CABIN PLAN
The Marlow 53 boasts a generous three-cabin and two-bathroom accommodation plan with the owner's suite amidships in a full-beam design.
The transverse king-sized master bed is designed for liveaboard passage making in style and connects to its own generous en suite.
The master suite includes a walk-in wardrobe and connects to a large utility room housing washing machine, dryer and additional refrigeration and freezer.
There is a luxurious queen-size VIP cabin forward with its own ensuite and a third cabin housing two single bunks.
"The ocean going Marlow will also be fitted with a Seakeeper gyro stabilisation unit for the ultimate cruising comfort at sea and at anchor for everyone aboard," said Thurley.
"The vessel will also be equipped with an extended swim platform that is hydraulically adjustable to raise and lower.
"Cruising visibility and control is enhanced with a lower and upper helm allowing the skipper a choice of vantage points underway while the lower helm has an adjacent dinette and cruising lounge with table for comfortable viewing during longer passages.
"The saloon arrangement boast a 42in flat-screen TV, large L-shaped ultraleather sofa and two comfortable tub chairs to spoil those aboard when relaxing at their favourite anchorage.
"The large cockpit is fully shaded with a flybridge deck overhang that is designed to extend all the way back to the rear of the cockpit," Thurley adds.
STATE-OF-THE-ART GEAR
Thurley said the new Marlow will also have an extensive Garmin state-of-the-art touch screen electronics package.
The yacht will be equipped with two Onan gensets to allow for back up and quieter nighttime power at anchor while also boasting a bow and stern thruster package.
The new Marlow will be displayed at PMY headquarters at the Gold Coast City Marina and will be finished in off white gelcoat deck and hull with an interior timber fit out featuring teak cabinetry upstairs and lighter maple fit out in the accommodation and cabin area. More at www.marlowyachts.com.
