Maritune Launch At Sanctuary Cove

Maritune, an automatic trim propulsion system with 30 per cent more acceleration, will have its official Australian launch at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in May

The German manufacturer MTU Friedrichshafen introduced Maritune at the Salone Nautico in Genoa last September. The propulsion package, with electronic control for surface propeller propulsion systems, automatically adjusts the propeller to optimum depth.

The manufacturer said Maritune will make taking a yacht out a lot more dynamic and much less complicated for the skipper, who can now concentrate on steering and accelerating his vessel without the need to trim manually.

"For surface drive propulsion systems full trim is now controlled automatically," said Geoff Bailey marine product manager of MTU Detroit Diesel Australia.

Maritune proved its capabilities in trials on the test vessel Tiziana. On this Mangusta-80 yacht, the system reduced acceleration times by up to 30 percent.
