Maritimo X50 locks in 2019 Sanctuary Cove show reveal

Sports yacht teased in virtual form at last year's Sanctuary Cove boat show will make its global debut at this year's event

The Maritimo X50 will officially have its global unveiling at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the Gold Coast-based luxury motor yacht maker has announced.

The X50 sports yacht will headline Maritimo’s line-up slated for the May 23-26 show, which will also include the unveiling of two M-Series flybridge models – the M51 and M59.

"There is great anticipation and excitement for the world premiere of our X50 sport yacht, but there are some other design updates to our M-Series Flybridge motor yachts we are unveiling for the first time, which will not want to be missed," Maritimo lead designer Tim Barry-Cotter said.

"The model enhancements being unveiled at Sanctuary Cove reflect the latest design innovation in an ongoing R&D strategy to review both the M and S series lines.

“The expanded Maritimo Design and R&D division will see numerous design refinements within our various models throughout 2019."

Maritimo is currently going through a major expansion of its Gold Coast-based manufacturing base, in part to help it meet a big jump in demand for its products, but also to help it expand the model range to include motor yachts up to 90 feet in length – if that is the direction the global market steers itself towards.

Barry-Cotter teased late last year that the brand was on the cusp of announcing something new for its products – but exactly what that was remains a mystery.

Maritimo has said the new X50 will be a true 40-knot boat, with twin 900hp engines helping to tick off the miles.

Riviera plans showcase

Maritimo’s cross-town rival, Riviera, has announced it will also have its latest luxury yachts at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

“As a proud Gold Coast company, we are proud to be associated with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. 2019 will be our 27th SCIBS appearance,” Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst said.

“We enjoy the chance to host visitors aboard our luxury Riviera motor yachts and showcase the latest from our five individual model design collections.

“The opportunity for show visitors to experience first-hand what makes Riviera yachts a global industry leader in terms of technology, innovation and luxury appointments is welcome.”

Tickets now on sale

The 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will run from May 23-26. Tickets for the event went on sale this week.

The tickets can be pre-purchased online at a discounted rate, with a one-day pass selling for $20 compared with $25 at the gate. Children under 15 years will be admitted free.

RACQ members can buy two-for-one tickets based on the $25 gate price via the automotive club’s website.

The show will have a free car park service from Warner Bros’ Movie World using air-conditioned shuttle buses, while boat owners dropping anchor in the Coomera River can catch a ride with Volunteer Marine Rescue for a gold coin donation.

Helicopter transfers from Marina Mirage from Gold Coast Helitours will cost $100 one way or $180 return.
