Australian boatbuilder Maritimo has had a great Sydney boat show, with its Sydney dealer SBM Maritimo at The Spit saying they sold one new Mustang 32, five new Maritimo M50s, a Maritimo M58, and took a deposit on a new Maritimo M65.
Steve Batton, dealer principal at SBM Maritimo, said the traditional shaft-drive engine arrangements offering true long-range cruising, coupled with bow and stern thrusters for docking, were a winning combination for Maritimo.
The full-beam stateroom on the M50 has been another key part of the new model’s success. The full-beam owner’s digs have undeniable boat-show appeal for would-be owners walking through the door to the mezzanine-level, with dressing space with vanity and en suite, before stepping down to the mighty cabin.
Sales and Marketing Manager at Maritimo, Greg Haines has added considerable input to the Bill Barry-Cotter yard and has proven a great brand ambassador to have on side. Haines delivered his own M58 from the Gold Coast boatbuilder to Sydney for the show. The very special boat boasts a stunning high-gloss Wenge timber fit-out with 16 coats of varnish for a sparkling New-York-Style finish.
"I couldn’t hang out on my boat at the show as the crowd came onboard, as I would be too worried about people damaging the finish. But the boys did a great job of making sure my boat was looked-after," Haines told us as we toured the stunning boat at The Spit.
Leaving no options unticked, and adding more goodies than you could ever imagine, Haines’ M58 took the standard $2.3 million base boat for a M58 to a $2.8 million showcase.
His Maritimo test platform has everything including a gyro that reduces roll by more than 70 per cent, painted AWL Grip hull, heated Recaro helm seats, $65K worth of Garmin glass screens, t a trick Bang and Olufsen AV system, Eskimo ice maker and more
Fuel polishing, power-generation and water-making systems were enhanced for true long-range adventure cruising. Evidently, three M58s and one M65 (release late-2014) have now been sold with the same upgraded Wenge interior.
"I haven’t finished yet," Haines said, heading off to refuel on Sydney Harbour, en route to Lady Elliot Island at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef for several weeks of post-boat-show relaxation. With twin 800hp D13s, the standard engines, his boat is good for 30.8 knots and he raced back to the Gold Coast at 26 knots without a stop for 4000 litres of fuel.
Our behind-the-scenes M58 feature will appear at BoatPoint.com.au and boatsales.com.au as soon as we’re through documenting the boatload of goodies aboard what must be the most optioned-up Maritimo ever.
