Maritimo teases new S50 sedan, M50 flybridge to land in 2026

Two new Maritimo models will replace the current S51, M51

Maritimo has announced it will introduce a new M50 flybridge cruiser and an S50 sedan in 2026, with buyers likely to face one easy decision – it will only come equipped with 800hp engines.

The new single-engine mandate is aimed at making things easier for buyers and the factory – important seeing as the current 50-foot model, the Maritimo M51, is one of the brand’s most popular models.

As a point of difference, the new Maritimo M50 will come with an enclosed flybridge. To account for the extra weight that this will stack on top of the hull, the Maritimo M50 will sit 180mm lower than the Maritimo M55 – the new M50 draws a lot of inspiration from its bigger sibling, especially on the design front – but retain the same headroom.

The new model will include sliding doors leading from outside to the saloon and flybridge deck to create more of a sense of being connected with the outdoors – something that was identified in feedback mainly from US customers who spend up to six months of each year living aboard their Maritimo.

Due in early 2026, the new Maritimo M50 and S50 both keep the distinctive shape that defines the Gold Coast-based boatbuilder’s current range.

Why 800 horsepower only? According to Maritimo general manager Phil Candler, setting a pretty performance-oriented 800hp baseline for this boat is the “right horsepower for the right speed for everything to meet the market for this boat”. The current M51 makes do with 670hp engines as standard.

Both the Maritimo M50 and S50 will be built as ocean-going vessels, and beamy for their length – current plans have it measuring 5.22 metres wide, a full 16.0mm wider than the M51 and S51 the new hull will replace.

Maritimo has already said this will be an owner’s boat, meaning the master stateroom below decks will feature bigger-boat luxuries such as a single-level floor in the master stateroom and a walk-in closet.

Another design feature teased and likely to win big with owners is a system of overhead windows that let more light flood into the forward guest stateroom, making the space feel light-filled and larger.

Other features include a 3800-litre fuel tank mounted low in the hull to bring the centre of gravity down as low as possible, a flybridge as large as the one on the Maritimo M55, and a flat floor from the cockpit to the saloon.

Design work is much further down the track for the Maritimo M50, with the S50 sedan version confirming it will have a similar saloon layout to the M50 version and a davit for lifting a tender positioned similarly to the S55 and S60.

The new design will allow up to eight people to sleep aboard the M50, with fold-out beds in the saloon and on the flybridge, and up to six on the S50 with a fold-out bed in the saloon.

Both new models were announced ahead of the 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
