Luxury sports yacht maker Maritimo has teased an all-new model as it launches a virtual boat show timed with the start of what would have been the 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
The Coomera-based manufacturer has published a single blurred image of the new model ahead of an official reveal due next month, showing a boat that wears a similar profile to an enclosed flybridge – hinting it might be an addition to the Maritimo M-Series line – but few other details.
Maritimo designer and marketing manager Tom Barry-Cotter said we could expect to see an announcement about the new boat in early June but not before. “You’ll just have to wait,” he said.
The Coomera-based motor yacht maker has traditionally used the Sanctuary Cove show to tease upcoming new models due usually in the following year, and to taste-test new design directions.

If the new boat is an addition to the M-Series flybridge line, it could either book-end the existing range that extends from the entry-level 16.2-metre Maritimo M51 up to the flagship 21.5-metre Maritimo M70, or slot inside it – the most obvious gap in Maritimo’s current line-up is a model to go head-to-head with rival Gold Coast luxury motor yacht maker Riviera’s 18.5-metre 57 Enclosed Flybridge.
Maritimo has recently expanded its production capacity via a multimillion-dollar investment at its Gold Coast-based factory that has also swelled the number of employees on its books.
Part of the move is a bigger shed to cater for future boat builds that could range up to almost 30 metres – 90 feet in the old scale – if market tastes shift towards bigger and more luxurious boats.
Barry-Cotter said Maritimo’s virtual boat show was delivering results for the motor yacht maker.
“I would say we’re getting more traction off that [the virtual boat show] than we would even at a normal show,” he said.
Last week, Maritimo announced it had launched a new R Performance badge for the Maritimo X50 and X60 sedans, featuring sharper dynamics and performance.
The Maritimo X50R is already on the water, while we’re unlikely to see the first Maritimo X60R until next year.
The 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show was to have started this week. However, COVID-19 pandemic control measures have forced organisers to postpone the event until later this year – its timing is yet to be announced.
