Australian luxury motor yacht maker Maritimo has appointed Derrick Nowak to help it add even more exports to its growing stack of new-boat orders.
US-born Nowak, a former boat builder, has worked in the marine industry for almost 30 years in the US, Europe and Asia, holding down roles including technical and sales management positions with Dutch multinational paints and coatings giant AkzoNobel.
He has also held senior roles in shipyards and client-managed major yacht builders including Fremantle, Western Australia-based superyacht specialist SilverYachts, US-based Hinckley Yachts and Taiwan-built but Australia-based Fleming Yachts.

Nowak will be charged with spearheading Maritimo’s global dealer and market expansion in European markets, as well as developing a presence in select Middle Eastern and Asian markets.
Maritimo said Nowak’s appointment came in the wake of the most successful year in its 20-year history, with seven new models launched to market including the flagship Maritimo M75 flybridge cruiser.
Nowak said he had watched Maritimo’s new models roll out, and felt that they represented a transition in the company’s range that would create “a very exciting period ahead”.
“These new models are completely unique in their design and engineering, catering to long-range coastal cruising, which makes them the ultimate vessel for so many boating destinations around the world,” he said.
Maritimo will next week introduce three new models to its growing showroom of luxury long-range motor cruisers – the Maritimo M60 flybridge motor yacht, the extended-cockpit Maritimo S600 Offshore sedan, and the flybridge-equipped Maritimo M600 Offshore.
Maritimo said Nowak emigrated to Australia more than 16 years ago, making the Gold Coast his home.
An avid boater, Maritimo said you would find him out on the water on most weekends.
