Multi-award-winning Australian luxury-cruiser manufacturer, Maritimo, is set to hit $100,000 in funds raised for charity in 12 months on the back of its philanthropic and promotion program launched in July last year.
Maritimo will be active again at the Starlight Foundation’s annual Star Ball at the Star City Casino in Sydney on July 12, which will be exactly one year since it launched its philanthropy program at the same event.
The leading boat manufacturer has been providing five-star, VIP weekend packages that include a once-in-a-lifetime ride in Maritimo Racing’s World Championship Winning Offshore powerboat as auction prizes at a number of high profile events.
Maritimo’s sales and marketing manager, Greg Haines, said the adrenalin-packed ultimate-prize package weekends have raised $57,000 in recent months at two events.
“By the time we do the Star Ball again on July 12 we should be well above $100,000 raised for the year which is a fantastic result,” he said.
Two of the packages offered up for auction at the A-lister, black-tie Star Ball last year saw $36,000 raised for the Starlight Foundation.
Mr Haines, said the company had provided the weekend packages as auction items at the Doctor Charlie Teo Cure For Life’s Mad Hatters Ball in Sydney in May, the Five Chefs Dinner in Brisbane on June 5 and would be doing so at the Star Ball in two weeks and the Star Ball in Melbourne in September.
“Last year these packages attracted individual bids of $18,000 at the Starlight Foundation’s ball and we believe as word has spread about what a fantastic weekend it was for the people involved the price achieved has increased,” he said.
“The Charlie Teo event saw competitive bidding among a number of guests ultimately we offered to provide two weekend packages which were successfully auctioned.
“More recently at the Five Chefs Dinner in Brisbane we auctioned another VIP weekend package so the total amount raised at the two events came to $57,000.”
Mr Haines said the VIP weekends included flights to the Gold Coast, limousine airport transfers, five star accommodation at the Intercontinental Hotel at Sanctuary Cove, breakfasts and dinners, the raceboat ride for one person, fully skippered and catered cruise aboard luxury Maritimo vessels, and an escorted tour of the Maritimo luxury cruiser manufacturing plant. Each weekend package is for four people.
“The people who successfully bid at last year’s Star Ball and came to the Gold Coast in February had an absolute ball and I think this has seen the bidding really heat up at the various charity balls since.”
Mr Haines said the chance to have a ride in the Maritimo Offshore race boat, which can travel at speeds of up to 175 miles per hour, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one that is rarely available to anyone except the crews.
Mr Haines said Maritimo’s founder Bill Barry-Cotter had instigated the philanthropic program and viewed it as a way for the company to give something back to the community.
“Bill has had a long and successful career and both he and his wife Lesley are active in the community,” he said. “This is a way that Maritimo can assist in significant funds being raised for very worthwhile causes and at the same time give people a one in a lifetime experience.
“The couples involved over the weekend in late February said it was a once in a lifetime experience.”
