Maritimo M600, an offshore fishing specialist, revealed

The Maritimo M600 Offshore is the first of a new series of motor yachts targeting gamefishers

Maritimo has launched a new class of boats aimed at offshore fishing enthusiasts wanting to run wide without leaving luxury behind. The first model, revealed today, is the Maritimo M600 Offshore.

Available as either sedan or flybridge, the M600 Offshore sticks with the Maritimo ethos of long-range bluewater luxury cruisers with a balance of performance and fuel economy.

But it’s big selling point is the cockpit, which is transformed to a state-of-the-art gamefishing platform featuring 2.4 metres of open deck between the aft transom wells of the fully enclosed transom and the forward-mounted island entertainment module.

Maritimo lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter says the Offshore Series, featuring a variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft, will be a range defined by “ocean-tested performance, build integrity, long-range efficiency and design functionality”.

“The M600 is centred upon a hull design that is an advanced evolution of Maritimo’s longstanding experience in long-range cruising design and world-leading shaft drive performance and efficiency,” Barry-Cotter says.

“Features such as the enclosed climate controlled flybridge sky lounge, internal flybridge stairs, aft galley, walk around side decks and highly practical and well thought out deck spaces have set the standard internationally for modern motor yacht design,” he says.

Aft deck space

But more about the cockpit space. Maritimo says the aft deck space is split between an upper lounging and entertaining cockpit sheltered from the elements by an extensive moulded flybridge headliner, and an offshore cockpit comprising a carefully designed open deck space with heavy consideration of fishing functionality.

The upper deck covers 9.2m2 of space while the lower one totals 10.2m2.

The cockpit contains two large wing lockers, transom wells, in-deck fish boxes, an enclosed transom gate, rod holders, and flush gunwale capping.

The cockpit floor holds two in-deck fish boxes, and a large lazarette storage area large enough to store large items such as diving gear is accessed via a day hatch or a large electrically actuated opening.

The transom can be fitted with an optional swim deck if owners want one, and an optional aft helm station on the flybridge deck has clear sightlines to the fishing cockpit and transom for backing down on a fish.

Room for everyone

For those who enjoy extending a trip running wide into an overnight adventure, the Maritimo M600 Offshore contains three staterooms below decks.

Maritimo says the Maritimo M600 Offshore’s straight shaft drives will be powered by standard twin 800hp in-line six-cylinder Volvo Penta D13 power units.

“Paired with Maritimo’s hull and straight shaft technology, they will deliver world-class fuel efficiency and excellent operating economy combined with very low emissions,” Maritimo says.

Optional power units include 1000hp Volvo Penta in-line six-cylinder D13s or 1200hp Scania V8 Di16-1200s.

The engines are fed with a 4500-litre fuel tank positioned to keep the Maritimo M600 Offshore’s centre of gravity as low as possible.

Interior layout

The Maritimo M600 Offshore has an aft galley that connects the upper cockpit deck with the saloon.

According to Maritimo, light and air flowing into the M600 Offshore’s saloon and the flybridge is via unique two-stage “vista” sliding windows.

Interior space is created wherever possible.

“Graciously veiling the walkaround side decks are free-flowing wing mouldings which integrate in with the flybridge design to induce more flybridge beam and living space, creating more space within the flybridge sky lounge and flybridge deck balcony,” Barry-Cotter says.

The M600 sky lounge, enclosed with bi-fold doors, incorporates two lounges that convert to extra berths. Beyond it is an “immense” deck space that can be fitted out with optional alfresco lounging, as well as a rear fishing helm station.

“This expansive area also features coverage from the elements with a fully moulded hardtop, opening skylights and more options for concealed rolldown clears or breezeway,” Maritimo said.

Below decks

Below decks, the Maritimo M600 Offshore has three large staterooms and two ensuites, with a full-beam king master stateroom, queen offset forward stateroom and twin single starboard guest’s stateroom.

“Below decks we have gone to incredible efforts in creating free-flowing spaces that best utilise the hull’s enormous volume, maximising height and minimise the number of steps in the floors and the ceilings,” Barry-Cotter says.

“The M600’s three staterooms feel like they could be within vessel’s much larger in size, thanks to the interior’s innovative floor plan meld with the high-volume hull.

“We are beyond excited with the new Maritimo Offshore Series and where this series will lead our brand,” he says.

More details are expected to be announced closer to the Maritimo M600 Offshore's launch later this year.
