Maritimo M50 2025 review

A smart design and efficient use of space are universal boating principles, and the smallest model in Maritimo’s S-series is another compelling example

Spacious, well-designed interiors blend comfort with functionality on the Maritimo M50 flybridge motor yacht. The saloon and twin staterooms on the 50-foot vessel offer ample room for couples or families, making it ideal for weekend getaways or extended cruising. Equipped with modern conveniences and powerful twin Volvo Penta D13 800hp engines, the M50 delivers smooth handling and impressive speed.

Overview

The Gold Coast-based luxury motor yacht builder unveiled its all-new M50 at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

Extensive customer consultation has helped shape the M50, which makes its global debut after thousands of design and engineering hours dedicated to maximising both form and function.

The Maritimo M50 is the smallest model in the M-Series flybridge model hierarchy that also includes the M55, M60 and flagship M75.

The M55 is the most successful pre-launch model from Maritimo in its 19-year history, and had a huge pre-order list when it was launched in 2021. Let’s find out if the $2.77 million M50 will create the same amount of fanfare.

Design and layout

The M50 features a clever high-low swim platform that raises and folds to reduce the vessel’s length by 750mm – ideal for tighter marina berths – and extends when lowered. The platform also doubles as a secure and convenient mount for a small tender, enhancing the vessel’s functionality for extended cruising.

The aft deck offers dual access to the lazarette. A single door entry is located between the built-in fridge and barbecue on the duck board – ideal for quick access to essential gear. For larger items, a second, longer entry beneath the rear cockpit lounge provides ample space, perfect for storing longboards, stand-up paddleboards and/or inflatables. This means bulky adventure gear can be safely stowed yet easily accessible, making the M50 not just a luxury cruiser but also a practical platform for active weekends on the water.

The aft cockpit has two wide-entry steps featuring plumbed drainage beneath, allowing step-free access into the main cabin and ease of moving between indoor and outdoor spaces. Around the exterior, the M50 maintains its deep, secure walkways, offering peace of mind when heading to the bow. Two integrated steps along the side decks are clearly visible, thanks to teak lining and subtle deck lighting, minimising trip hazards.

Saloon and galley

Inside the cabin, the Maritimo M50’s galley is exceptionally well-appointed, offering all the modern conveniences you’d expect at home – let alone on a boat. It features a full-sized fridge, a separate fridge/freezer unit, and a handy pull-out pantry for easy access to dry goods.

The island bench adds generous prep space and doubles as a social hub, and there’s a built-in dishwasher. Abundant storage compartments and drawers ensure everything has its place, keeping the space tidy and functional. Whether preparing a quick snack or a full meal, the M50’s galley delivers true home-style comfort and efficiency.

The main saloon is designed for both relaxation and entertainment, featuring a pop-up television. A plush lounge provides comfortable seating and cleverly converts into a pull-out bed for extra guests. Adjacent is a second lounge area for entertaining or simply unwinding while taking in the stunning near 320-degree panoramic views.

Large wraparound windows flood the space with natural light, connecting the indoors to the surrounding seascape. From the forward glass to the aft sliding doors, the cabin offers an inviting, open feel that enhances every moment onboard.

The M50 features a uniquely designed carpet exclusive to the brand, incorporating a waterproof underlay that prevents any water from soaking through or pooling underneath. This smart design eliminates the risk of trapped moisture, ensuring there are no lingering smells or odours – a common issue on many boats.

It’s a subtle, yet highly practical feature that speaks to Maritimo’s attention to detail and commitment to long-term onboard comfort. Whether you're entertaining guests or relaxing after a day on the water, the fresh, dry interior remains a standout feature of the M50’s refined living spaces.

Accommodation

Six steps from the main cabin is the first of two staterooms. This guest suite offers a flexible layout with either a double bed or twin bunk configuration, with an abundance of natural light streaming in from the overhead skylight through to the bow. It features a large wardrobe, generous drawers, and dual access to a bathroom complete with a full-height shower, vanity and water closet.

Continuing down another three steps, past the built-in washer and dryer, there’s the full-beam master stateroom. This luxurious retreat includes dual wardrobes, a day lounge and expansive side windows that bring the outside in. The en-suite bathroom impresses with an oversized shower, elegant vanity, and separate water closet.

Flybridge and upper cockpit

Entry to the fully enclosed flybridge is accessed via a staircase of eight steps from the main saloon. At the top, you’ll find two comfortable lounges, one of which doubles as a pull-out bed.

The helm is equipped with twin, fully electric, heated reclining captain chairs, offering maximum comfort for long passages. The sleek dashboard features twin 22-inch Garmin displays and intuitive binnacle-mounted throttle control.

Large wraparound glass windows provide exceptional visibility for the skipper, while a rear double sliding door opens to the flybridge balcony.

On the water

The high-pressure hydraulic steering system allows for a full lock-to-lock rudder turn in just 1.5 turns, delivering sharp, responsive handling across all rev ranges. This precision control gives the skipper confidence in any conditions, whether cruising at speed or navigating tight marina spaces.

Combined with powerful bow and stern thrusters, docking becomes effortless, whether you're at the helm or using the remote control while standing on the back deck. Cruising at 19 knots (35.2km/h), she feels light on the steering and throttle adjustments are done with ease, plenty of power is quickly delivered when crossing coastal bars or choppy waters making it a much safer vessel in these situations.

Verdict

As the smallest in Maritimo’s M-Series range, the M50 is a brilliant example of smart design and efficient use of space. Maritimo has thoughtfully refined this model by removing certain components from earlier versions, creating a “more for less” approach that doesn’t sacrifice quality or comfort.

The result is a vessel that feels spacious, stylish, and incredibly functional – perfect for both short getaways and extended adventures. Every area has been carefully considered to maximise usability and enhance onboard living.
