Maritimo launches Maritimo One, a bespoke boat-building division, at 2019 Sydney boat show

Gold Coast boat-builder says it will now help its customers build the boat of their dreams

Gold Coast motor yacht maker Maritimo has announced plans to start a customised yacht-building division capable of creating boats up to 100 feet in length.

Maritimo One, as the customisation business will be known, follows a similar trend in the high-end automotive world where customers want to individualise their rides, rather than have them look the same as other vehicles straight out of the showroom.

The new Maritimo One division, which started work on its first projects in January this year, will kick off with customised versions of its M51, M76 and M79 flybridge cruisers.

"Maritimo has been internationally renowned for the level in which it enables client customisation, where other brands have set limitations," Maritimo lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter said.

"Due to the company's sales success and subsequent growth of production in recent times, the need surfaced for a more systemized approach to the customisation of boats in order to maintain production efficiencies within the standard model range.

"Maritimo One was established to uphold the brand’s identity and reputation for enabling customers to tailor a vessel to their specific needs or environment, whilst taking the potential degree of that customisation to new levels.

"It is all about one on one design and development time with customers and providing a personalised service that results in Maritimo One customers getting a boat that is a one-off and unlike any other vessel."

Maritimo said its first Maritimo One boats include M51 Regency Suite Flybridge Motoryacht, M72 Sport Flybridge Motoryacht and M78 Flybridge Motoryacht models.

Martitimo said it expected owners to spend about an extra 30 per cent of the boat’s purchase price on making Mritimo One modifications.

This motor yacht was built for a client who needed to expand the master stateroom in lieu of the starboard guest cabin. The custom design relocates the master ensuite to starboard with a custom-designed ensuite moulding and enlarged day lounge and wardrobe.

“This level of customisation to the standard specification sees modifications to existing interior mouldings with no effect to exterior specification, hydrostatics or weight study,” Maritimo said.

“This lesser degree of modification, which transfers a standard build to the new custom division, forms the bulk of enquiry that Maritimo One undertakes.

“The degree of customisation has far more scope for those desiring that vessel which is perfected to their needs.”

Maritimo M72 Sport Flybridge

The M72 Sport Flybridge Motoryacht is being built for a New Zealand-based customer wanting a vessel capable of battling oceans in New Zealand’s North in pursuit of prize fish. He has already owned three Maritimos.

“The degree of customisation Maritimo One has provided this customer incorporates over 200 non-standard options with modifications to the hull’s running surface, transom, tank capacities and engineering, requiring fully customised weight studies and hydrostatic reports,” Maritimo says.

“These hull modifications have formed a craft ideal for backing up on fish in testing conditions, whilst still embracing Maritimo’s tried and tested hull and engineering design and expertise.”

The boat will have an extended waterline with a cockpit incorporating livewells, bait tanks, and a mezzanine level, as well as other fishing-specific modifications.

In a move that turns the Maritimo M72 Sport Flybridge into something more akin to a game fishing boat, a modified hardtop flybridge includes more opening windows and optimised vision out the back, with a helm pod and seats aft.

“After several months of design and development, the M72 Sport Flybridge Motoryacht will launch in the weeks following Sydney International Boat Show,” Maritimo says.

“The project highlights what is a growing sport market in the Australia and New Zealand region, with enquiry for similar sport fishing projects being received since the launch of the new custom division.”

Maritimo M78 Flybridge

You’d be hard-pressed to recognise this boat as a Maritimo M78. The customisation extends to the hull, engineering, exterior mouldings and interior using the M70 as its base.

This client wanted a boat otpimised for adventuring and entertainment.

“The extended hull and running surface make way for an expansive adventure deck complete with integrated davit in port hull side, and storage of tender and PWC,” Maritimo says.

“The hydraulic rotating swim platform then further increases deck real estate for lounging and entertaining at anchor.”

The cockpit becomes an expansive mezzanine entertainment space, with lounges, an entertainment unit, and a electric grill with sink, fridge and stroage.

The extended flybridge deck and hardtop create added entertainment space with flybridge deck lounging, bar and powder room ensuite.
