The new propellers will offer owners a significant cost saving both in the initial purchase price of their boat and in replacement props if they are needed, said Maritimo.
The manufacturing of the propellers is in line with Maritimo CEO, Bill Barry-Cotter's aim to have as much of the boats manufactured in-house as possible, the company said.
"With our new foundry, we can soon say that all the underwater components of our boats are made in-house," said Barry-Cotter. "Our shafts, rudders, skegs through-hull fittings and now our props will be all Maritimo."
Maritimo general manager, Martin Lewis (pictured) said the savings will be passed on to Maritimo customers.
"We're not only passing on savings of around 50 per cent on our props to our customers, but in early testing we have found that the Maritimo propellers give better performance and fuel economy than the imported props we have been using," said Lewis.
Maritimo said its props are designed by well-known US propeller designer Cottee Fay who is also the designer of the Zeus Drive.
"Cottee Fay worked very closely with Maritimo to design the propellers and the patterns," said Lewis.
"We make all the patterns in-house to make it as easy as possible for the foundry to make the castings. This announcement is the culmination of almost two years' work to get the propellers from concept to reality and we are very proud of this achievement," he said.
Lewis added that although the props were less expensive than the imported items, they were of a very high quality.
"We believe that our propellers are manufactured to a world-class standard," said Lewis. "Because we buy the ingots ourselves we can control the quality of the finished item and we are confident that we can equal or better the quality of the excellent imported propellers we use now."
