Maritimo gets land to expand

Maritimo has acquired 60 hectares of land in the Gold Coast's Coomera marine precinct for a major development, to be highlighted by a 200-berth 'boutique' marina capable of handling vessels up to 30.5m

The land, close to the Maritimo headquarters, boasts a 1km frontage to the Coomera River and a further 1.6km of waterfront to Oakey Creek.

Planned expansion of the Maritimo production unit will occupy about 10 hectares, with the remainder comprising a range of facilities and factory units.

Extensive landscaping and tropical gardens will be included in the areas surrounding the development.

Maritimo chief executive officer Bill Barry-Cotter said the development would be completed in four to five years.

The marina will be a full working facility complete with a travel lift, slipways, marine mechanics/engineers and shipwrights.

"This will not be just a place to park boats," he said. "It will be a prime destination for cruising boats, complete with up-market retail areas, cafes and restaurants," he said.
