Maritimo announces X50

New Maritimo X50 announced; set for launch in May 2019

Australia’s ‘other’ big boat brand, Maritimo, announced an important addition to its line-up at this week’s Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS). The second in the marque’s X-Series line-up of sport yachts, the X50, was unveiled in virtual form at Darling Harbour.

Maritimo’s X-Series is famous for its ‘Beach Club’ water-level rear amenities cabin. Pioneered in the X60, the innovative option will also be offered on the new X50.

The up-to-three-cabin, two-level 50ft-plus X50 has commenced prototype production and is expected to make its boat show debut at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.

It is the second Maritimo X-Series. The “internationally successful” X60, which was launched earlier this year, took pride of place at the Maritimo display on the David Lockwood Marina at Sydney.

Maritimo X-Series lead designer, Tom Barry-Cotter said the X50 cemented the company’s reputation as design leaders. He also confirmed the vessel would not be the only addition to the X-Series line up.

"We are leading the industry into new design territory in sport and motor yachts, and pioneering new thinking,” Barry-Cotter commented.

The design of the new X50 features two staterooms and ensuites forward.

The forward stateroom design features Maritimo’s offset queen bed design with VIP ensuite with dual access from stateroom and companionway. Like its larger sibling, the X50 also features a full-width master stateroom with optional king bed (queen standard) and spacious ensuite.

Large hull-side glazing will deliver plenty of natural light. The X50 will also get through-hull portlights for ventilation.

Like the X60, the X50’s aft accommodation can be personalized. The Beach Club option can be replaced with a two-berth aft cabin or full-time tender storage. Maritimo’s X60 launch customers have opted variously for all three configurations.

The X50’s main deck comprises helm station, large saloon and a galley-back design. The X-Series champions Maritimo’s (optional) three-stage sliding ‘vista’. An optional sunroof over the galley provides extra light and ventilation.

Maritimo says it is “recognized for large household galley designs”.

The X50’s layout will feature: “a spacious galley with island bench, upright fridge freezer, full-height pull-out pantry, microwave oven, dish drawer, trash receptacle, and multiple storage cupboards and drawers,” it says.

Maritimo claims the set-up is “suitable for all types of meal preparation and entertaining”.

Powered by twin shaft-drive Volvo Penta D11s, the X50 is expected to reach speeds in the vicinity of 36kt.

"The X50 will deliver class-leading fuel economy and range, high-speed cruising capabilities and the latest technology from the world leaders in shaft driven performance," Barry-Cotter said.
Maritimo’s patented molded engine-room liner will be used in the new X50.

“There is ample space to work with the boat systems and engineering compared to any other vessel in its class,” Barry-Cotter promised.

Maritimo has gifted the X50 a “performance-inspired” helm. Optional joystick docking systems will be available.

“The expansive cockpit features a starboard-side entertainment unit and two opposing euro lounge units that can be combined to form an eight-seat protected dining area. Hallmark secure, walk-around decks enable safe passage to the forward deck entertainment area with lounge bed with folding backrests,” the company states.

The company expects the X50 to hit the market from just under $1.4m.
