Queensland motor and sports yacht maker Maritimo has revealed it has pegged more than $10 million in finalised contracts in the wake of this month’s Auckland on Water boat show.
Maritimo said recent design updates to its M Series flybridge motor yacht and the release of X Series models including the X60 Sport Yacht, revealed in May, and the X50 Sport Yacht that is yet to have its global premiere at next year’s 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, drove “multiple” NZ-based sales for the boat maker.
Maritimo lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter said the X50 had “generated unprecedented amounts of interest due to its superior accommodation options and incredible price point”.
The Maritimo X60 on display in Auckland had motored across to New Zealand in a move that more owners were considering as a less expensive and more exciting delivery option over shipping.
"People were very surprised to hear that the X60 was capable of such a passage as it is uncommon for a sport yacht to have extended range capability," Barry-Cotter said.
"Seeing a Maritimo complete a voyage like that builds confidence in the brand and is a clear demonstration of the seaworthiness of our vessels. New Zealanders have a great sense of adventure and they love seeing epic voyages being made against the odds, and the elements."
The NZ sales crown comes in the wake of more than $40 million in orders taken by Maritimo in the wake of the Sydney International Boat Show.
